Virginia East (B.Sc. and Graduate Diploma)
Virginia is new to the MineralsEd team, having begun as the Education Program Coordinator in January 2018. She is responsible for communications with teachers, schools, and districts regarding all MineralsEd programming.
Virginia completed a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Earth Science from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, a setting well known in Canada as a living laboratory of geology and mining research. Her studies integrated learning in geology, geography, and biology. Guided by her desire to be active in outreach education, Virginia continued her studies at Laurentian, completing a graduate diploma in Science Communication. Between her programs and after, she has sought out opportunities to work in environmental education and with youth in Ontario, including volunteer work with Scouts Canada, with which she remains active.
We are happy to have her on board!
